President Niranjan Patnaik has been injured after his vehicle was attacked by
some miscreants during an election rally in Keonjhar’s Ghasipura Assembly constituency today.
Nirtanjan Patnaik is contesting
the polls from Ghasipura assembly seat against minister Badri Narayan
Patra (BJD) and Prithviraj Kuanr (BJP).
Apart from Patnaik, five to seven
Congress workers were also injured in the attack. Three of them have been
shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The OPCC President filed a police
complaint at Ramchandrapur police station alleging BJD men were involved in the
incident.
Going a step ahead, the Keonjhar District Congress Working
President Ratikant Baral claimed local MLA and Minister Badri Narayan Patra’s
son Debasish Patra’s direct involvement in the attack.
He also alleged that some of their election campaign vehicles
were vandalised by the BJD “goons”.
The Keonjhar SP Jay Narayan Pankaj said “the matter is
being under investigation and stringent action will be taken against the
culprits”.
